Dinner 夕食 Yuushoku

I'm warming myself now inside my fleece blanket.. Yeah, I use that blanket and another thin one I brought from Malaysia for the winter.. I can't afford any futons or thicker blanket.. - -"

Had a simple dinner tonight.. Rice, fried chicken (marinated with turmeric powder) and soup (with enoki and carrot)..

With 500ml of Mountain Dew (not a very good combination, really..),

Went to Hello Work (a company helping people to find job) again in Ikebukuro.. And as expected, was rejected even for a decent job interview because I'm a foreigner (or what the Japanese call, 外人 gaijin).. They didn't even want to give a chance.. Have to try another way to find a job..

Looking forward to tomorrow's potluck party at one of my friends house.. I will make nasi goreng (fried rice, in Malay language).. :)

Buying Halal Meat ハラルの肉を買うこと Hararu no Niku o Kaukoto

Hi everyone :),

I've enjoyed the weather here for the past few days (it's not too cold, max is around 13'C) but today, temperature started to fall and it's cold all over again (and windy too). Woke up late again and I cleaned my room today.. Borrowed vacuum cleaner from the dorm's office.. That's why "Word of the Day" for today is 掃除機 (soujiki - vacuum cleaner) ^^

Back to this entry's title, I will buy my weekly Halal chicken meat from Al-Flah Supermarket in Ikebukuro. 1 whole chicken can last for 1 week.. Yeah, I eat a lot.. Hehe.. Eating is always a great thing to do but cutting and cleaning the chicken is not that great.

Finding the supermarket for the first time is quite hard (took me 30minutes to find it). So, in today's entry, I will show the way to get to the supermarket from Ikebukuro station's West Exit :D

First, take the escalator at the West Exit to the ground level,

Upon reaching the ground level, turn to your right and walk towards Matsumoto Kiyoshi pharmacy,

Next, walk pass the pharmacy until you reach KFC and a street sign written "西一番街",

Just walk through the street,

Until you reach the end of it,

Then turn left and walk for a few metres and Al-Flah Supermarket will be on your right, on 4th floor of 大野屋ビル (Oonoya Building),

Here is the address,

It's 4'C now.. Hu.. - -"
Goodnight!

Birthday 誕生日 Tanjyoubi

Yesterday was my birthday.. Did nothing special.. And I even woke up late, I mean super late, like 2.30pm! :| As of 11.59pm yesterday, I received 129 birthday wishes from my friends on Facebook.. Thanks everyone~ :D

The best present of the day is this,
It's a Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) review book! and it's for the highest level, N1.. The title of the book reads 新完全マスター漢字:日本語能力試験N1 (Shinkanzen Masuta Kanji: Nihongo Nouryoku Shiken N1)..Thanks a lot to Lucian and Rima.. It's a great present.. To be honest, you guys just motivated me to study hard again..

My long term goal is to pass at least N2 level for JLPT this December and my short term goal is to be placed in at least J5 level for Rikkyo's Japanese Language Placement Test in April.. はい、これから頑張ります!^^

Around RUID Shiki RUID志木の周囲 RUID Shiki No Shuui

I think RUID Shiki is situated on a very strategic spot.. The 2 most visited places near RUID Shiki is Daiei department store and Big A convenience store..

Daiei's supermarket held 2 sales weekly, on Thursday and Sunday.. Chicken eggs will be so cheap during the sale (only 98yen for 10, usual price is 198yen) but it's only limited to 500packs per day. So, in order to buy it, I have to wake up early..
Next, Big A - Discount Foods. I don't know how they managed to sell things at quite a low price.. For example, 500ml Coke is only 86yen instead of 98yen in Daiei and Skippy's Peanut butter is only 329yen there instead of 399yen in Daiei.. I also buy bread from Big A, priced at only 79yen for 8pieces,

Okashi No Machioka, name of a shop selling snacks, candies, chocolates, biscuits. Located near Shiki station and in front of a bookshop called Ayumi Books.. Sometimes on the way back to my dorm, I will intentionally pass this shop just the check out what is the promotion of the day.. I will usually buy Bourbon's Alfort Mini Chocolate or Calbee's Usushio Potato Chips there.. :)

I hope I can maintain this trend of updating my blog daily, well, once every 2-3days also sounds good to me.. :D Good night everyone..

RUID Shiki RUID 志木

This entry is the extension or a more detailed entry regarding Rikkyo University International Dormitory (RUID) in Shiki. You can refer to the previous entry here. Since RUID Shiki is quite new, I can still remember the time (before coming here) when I searched the word "RUID Shiki" in Google and it wasn't really helpful, so, I hope this entry will help the students who will be coming here in April or even in September.

RUID Shiki location is quite convenient since it's only 5minutes walk from Shiki station's east exit (志木駅の東口 Shiki eki no higashi guchi) and finding RUID Shiki is easy since you only have to walk straight from the station exit,

I took the picture above near RUID Shiki, that means, Shiki station's east exit is right at the end of the road..

This is RUID Shiki,

With 8 floors (please note that Japan uses American flooring system, i.e. there's no Ground floor like in Malaysia).. The 1st floor is the lobby, laundry room, office and dining room. 2nd and 3rd floor is reserved for foreign students and it's a mix floors. 3rd and 4th floor is for boys and the rest is for girls. As I mentioned in the previous post, I'm placed at the 5th floor with Japanese boys.

Ok, now let me show you what you can see when entering RUID Shiki.. First is the mail box,

From Ryugaku 留学 - Jepun
You need your key to open the door to the lobby and the first thing you should do before going up to you room is to 'update' your status whether you're in or out by switching the colours on the board, it's quite obvious, white is when you're in and red is when you're out.. The board is located on the left from the main door,

From Ryugaku 留学 - Jepun
On the right side is the office and the reading corner,

From Ryugaku 留学 - Jepun
Yomiuri Shimbun (読売新聞) is available everyday.

On the same floor, there's the dining room and laundry room.. Breakfast and dinner is available from Monday to Saturday but I didn't apply for the meal package because I can't eat most of the food served, so, I cooked myself everyday. Usually, I will use the dining room when I want to cook my lunch, meet my friends and also to toast my bread for breakfast or supper.. Hehe..

From Ryugaku 留学 - Jepun
One of the things I like about the dining room is the tea server (besides the middle sink).. Free flow of green tea! :D

From Ryugaku 留学 - Jepun
Finally, the laundry room.. It is separated according to gender.. Washing machine usage is free of charge but if you want to use the dryer, it will cost 100yen for 30minutes. I never used the dryer since I arrived here.. Even now, in winter, I hang my clothes to dry at the balcony even though it will take around 2 days to dry.. hehe..
